Al-Qaeda threatens the Pope

Churches have been burned, protests are rife but Pope Benedict has never been more popular with the West.  Whether his comments (and his appointment given his history of feelings towards Islam) will serve to benefit the world will only be known in years to come.

Many have questioned the feelings of the average man on the street towards the war on terror, few people have had to experience the tradgedy of terror attacks on thier own back yard. So perhaps a figure such as the Pontiff is the ideal man to bring the reality of the current global climate to the masses.

Yesterday however, Al-Qaeda in Iraq warned Pope Benedict XVI that its war against Christianity and the West will go on until Islam takes over the world, and Iran's supreme leader called for more protests over the pontiff's remarks on Islam.

Time will tell, but for sure the time is coming for a full confrontation with the extreme elements of Islam.
