Syria Playing Dangerous Games

All of a sudden the Syrians are our best friends.  After thwarting a terrorist attack onthe US Embassy in Damascus they have shown their willingness to support the War on Terror, to protect western assets and generally act like a responsible nation.

Really ?

The US Ambassador to Syria was recalled a long time ago along with all American nationals.  The Embassy has been staffed by locals to open mail and answer the phone.  All that was at risk was a building.


What do Syria want ?

We know they want normalized relations with the west, which means lifting of sanctions and some 'respect'.  What better way than to thwart a terror attack.  Would they go as far as to stage this attack only to prevent it and thereby force some form gratidute from the government and sympathy from the people of America?

Conspiracy theory perhaps, but plausible nonetheless...
